We rented a car, and followed Grandpa Sam,
94 years down the road,
to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial.
Where 3,330 American soldiers rest:
2,300 beneath marble crosses,
And 1,000 plus,
Memorialized on the chapel walls,
Continue their sleep unknown.
Outside in Bellau wood,
Watching my niece,
Brother,
And nephew,
Play on guns used once to defend and kill,
Reminds me that Grandpa Sam's life,
And mine,
Are a miracle.
How I want to go there! Thank you for sharing Chris.
