Les Calanques National Park

Les Calanques translates roughly to The Inlets, a park a mile or two south of Casiss.

Port-Miou is the most easily-accessible inlet,

Lined with sailboats.

I hiked a mile in flip flops over a rocky hill to Calanque de Port Pin

French families gasped and shook heads at my Choco flip flops.

They wore sturdy hiking boots.

I had a pair of New Balance and socks in my backpack.

But it was 80 degrees outside,

And my feet haven't seen full-on sun in about a year.

  1. Are you sure they were scoffing at your flip flops or at your pasty, white feet?

Regardless, this place looks absolutely heavenly.
