A Visit from Rhoderika Miranda

Marriott flanked by two beaches

 The Maui Marriott seems real.

That's why I accepted to have Rhoderika Miranda, Director of National Accounts, drop in for a visit when she called a few months ago.

The past couple of years I've been pushing for more and more luxurious resorts at lower and lower prices, and I guess I'm kind of burned out.

Perfectly Unremarkable

I met Rhoderika this morning at 9:30 a.m. at my company's front desk.  I tore her away from an engaging conversation she was having with the receptionist, and we walked down the hall to a meeting room.

After an iPad slide presentation:

"I'm working with Sony Studio executives right now for a company retreat. And I had to ask:  'I really appreciate your consideration of the Marriott and all, but why aren't you staying at the Four Seasons with Brand and Angelina?'

Paparazzi view of resort

These are mega rich guys, right? They told me they wanted the Marriott because of the peace and quiet. There isn't any beach in front of the rooms, you see, so the only way for paparazzi to take a picture is by boat.

A lot of our guests sleep with their lanai doors wide open. Pretend you are sitting on the bed in one of our rooms. The ocean would be down there at the end of the table."

We talked for more than an hour, and then I had to say goodbye to Rhoderika and her little black hibiscus pattern summer dress.
