Pam How I Love Thee

1:30 p.m. at the Ft. Lauderdale cruise terminal:

"Oh!" The check-in agent takes a step back from her computer acting genuinely surprised. "You've been upgraded." She cheerfully runs to another desk for the appropriate gold-colored key card.

"Mr. Bartholomew you are now on deck 9 in a Grand Suite."

---

7:45 p.m. at dinner in Chops restaurant located in the Central Park Neighborhood of the Allure:

"And what are you ordering?" Lori Cassidy, Director of Corporate, Incentive and Charter Sales for Royal Caribbean, makes a suggestion: "Order the Forest Mushroom Soup and the Chop Salad. Seriously, why not? They are both delicious."

Later, while tentatively contemplating desert Lori further enables: "Get the Chocolate Mud Cake. I order it just for the crust. Leave the rest on the plate. It's to die for."

---

11:30 p.m. after watching Blue Planet, An Allure Exclusive "Cirque-like" show, our cruise director, Ken Rush (He's been doing this for RC for over 20 years), takes the microphone:

"You wouldn't dare think about going back to your staterooms, would you? Join me in Dazzles Club for a Michael Jackson Retrospective dance party, or to the Solarium for our late-night Calypso Street Festival! Why not?. . . Because, what do you have to do in the morning?"

Ken pauses for the crowd to shout back.

Crowd: "Nothing!"

Ken: "What? I can't here you!"

Crowd: "Nothing!"

6:45 a.m. wrapped in my king-sized comforter, left foot sticking out.

I wake up briefly, see the endless sun-dappled ocean off my private balcony, and decide to skip breakfast. I think of Pam Kressley who made this all possible.

Thank you Pam Kressley.
